Simon Rogan cannot be described without superlatives. The 56-year-old chefs runs top restaurants around the world, has built a farm and founded a cooking academy, and has received countless awards and Michelin stars. He is a global culinary icon. Yet the career of the man who is now considered one of England’s best chefs began in the kitchen of a local Greek restaurant in Southampton. Today, anyone who dines at his three-star restaurant “L’Enclume” in the northern English village of Cartmel, can consider themselves lucky. Guests of the restaurant, housed in a 13th century smithy, come from all across the globe including USA, Japan and Australia, some staying overnight in one of the 16 associated rooms scattered around the historic village.
Recognised as “Restaurant of the Year” by the Good Food Guide 2022, “L’Enclume” is the heart of Rogan’s gastronomic empire. His projects stretch far and wide and include Michelin-starred and Michelin green starred “Roganic” and chef’s table “Aulis” in Hong Kong, bakery and natural wine bar “The Baker & the Bottleman” also in the same city, Michelin-starred “Rogan & Co” and designated “Our Farm” in Cartmel, lake Windemere based “Henrock”, London chef’s table “Aulis”, “ION Harbour” in Malta, “Home by Simon Rogan” the range of at-home meals and products, and the soon-to-be launched “Aulis Phuket” in Thailand.
