An unmistakeable identity and taste are the focus of his "cosmopolitan gourmet cuisine, which always remains open to all kinds of inspiration", as top Swiss chef Patrick Mahler himself describes it. In spring 2018, when the 36-year-old succeeded Nenad Mlinarevic in the fine dining restaurant focus at the Park Hotel Vitznau near Lucerne, critics were rather sceptical: does the man from the canton of Aargau really have licence to be a master chef? The answer came less than a year later, when in February 2019, the Michelin Guide awarded the new Chef de Cuisine not one but two of the coveted stars at once. GaultMillau voted him “Newcomer of the Year” and his cuisine is currently rated with 18 points. In his dishes, Patrick Mahler delights guests with a great variety of flavours and fine contrasts. He transforms seasonal produce from all over the world with the greatest of ease into unique, colourful creations. Mahler himself says, “The experience for the guest takes centre stage here.” In June 2020, the “focus” was renamed “focus ATELIER”, because it now shares the premises with the PRISMA Restaurant at the Park Hotel Vitznau. Here, the young top chef and his team consciously offer an accessible fine dining experience. The filigree culinary works of art are presented in eight or twelve impressions.

Patrick Mahler completed his apprenticeship at the Aarau Cantonal Hospital, qualifying as head chef and diet chef. As a member of the Swiss Junior Chef National Team, he became the overall winner at the “2005 Culinary Olympics.” Before eventually finding his way to the Vitznau on the shores of Lake Lucerne, Mahler gained professional experience at Lampart's Gourmet Restaurant in Hägendorf and as Sous Chef at the Ecco Restaurant at Hotel Giardino in Ascona and St. Moritz.
